Portrait Workshop

Last month, the Photo Club organised a Portrait Workshop at ESTEC with Dutch photographer Bas Adriaans. 12 members of the club participated to the event. Bas prepared 3 scenes with a variety of professional grade studio flash equipment. After instructions and demo, we worked with real models and did our own shoots. We had the opportunity to experiment different light techniques, and got very valuable advice from the photographer. We used both with analogue and digital cameras - once the flash light settings are calibrated, they can be applied to both technologies.

The debrief session took place yesterday with Bas, where we reviewed the picture results - raw and post-processed - and exchanged impressions and tips about portrait photography. Overall, the workshop was very appreciated by the participants, who are looking forward to improve their skills and practice in studio and outside.

For members interested, the Photo Club owns and maintains an extensive set of studio flash equipment. They can be borrowed by contacting the equipment officers Michael and Volker.
